About David Litwin

Composer and audio producer David Litwin has presided over his company, David Litwin Productions, serving the whole spectrum of electronic media in the San Francisco Bay Area, for over thirty years. David’s ears and skills have won him dozens of industry awards. He has turned out music and soundtracks for such clients as NBC–TV, Westinghouse Group W, Turner Broadcasting, Delta Dental, PG&E,The National Visitor Center,* Connie Field’s documentary Rosie the Riveter,* the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Readers Digest Films, US West, Coca–Cola USA, Time Warner, Newsweek Interactive, Amdahl, NEC Electronics, Intuit, Tandem, Syntex, and IBM, to name just a few. David started out in this business as a composer/arranger with a classical and electronic music background. A three year stint at San Francisco’s Different Fur Studio, plus later independent work with a galaxy of clients, added major audio production skills to his repertoire.

David co-produced (with Marjorie Leet Ford) the acclaimed series Tell Me a Story, heard from 1984 to 1995 on national public radio stations nationwide. For several years David co-authored the audio column for the national Journal of the Association for Multi-Image.* His album of historic Italian pipe organs, Organi Storici d’Italia, was released on the Lyrichord label in 1999 to international acclaim. David is a member of the Recording Academy (NARAS) and the Audio Engineering Society, and among his students during his years on the faculties of San Francisco State University and The College of Marin were jazz drummer Billy Cobham, New Age recording artist Ray Lynch, and country singers Naomi and Wynona Judd.

David’s formal training includes classical piano studies as a child with Louise Heggie in New York City, a B.A. in music from Hunter College (City University of New York), graduate studies in composition at the University of Oregon School of Music, and a Community College teaching credential from San Francisco State University.
